Historic Haile Homestead Tours

On the National Register of Historic Places, the 6,200 square foot Historic Haile Homestead was a working plantation in the mid-1800s by the Thomas Haile family. Originally from South Carolina, Haile was one of many planters to establish a Sea Island cotton plantation built and worked by enslaved Africans.  The Hailes allowed family and guests to write on the walls and the home is unique for its “Talking Walls.”
