Spring is here. It is time for a new crop of strawberries, blueberries, plants and produce we all love in the spring.  Local growers in the Gainesville area will be selling their new crops at our local Farmers Markets.

Saturdays you can find the Alachua County Farmers Market, at the corner of 34thStreet and Highway 441 open from 8:30 a.m. until noon, rain or shine. Everything sold is grown, raised or produced by the local farmers who are selling the product to you.  https://441farmersmkt.com

Also on Saturdays 8:30 a.m. until noon, we have the Haile Plantation Farmers Market, 5213 SW 91stTerrace, Gainesville, FL 32608. You can find prepared foods, handmade crafts and lots of produce from local farmers who have grown and sell directly to you at the market.  www.hailefarmersmarket.com

On Mondays, we have the Tioga Monday Market, a seasonal open air market at the Tioga Town Center at 13005 West Newberry Road, open Mondays 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. weather permitting. Wednesday is the Union Street Farmers Market in downtown Gainesville from 3: p.m. until 7:00 p.m. every Wednesday rain or shine, 111 East University Ave., Gainesville. This is the largest Farmers’ Market in our area and has been going since 1996. Alachua County Farmer’s Market – Chili Pepper Festival

Select seasonably fresh fruits and vegetables from farmers’ gardens direct to your dinner table.  Also available are cheeses, farm fresh eggs, meats, jam and jellies, fresh chilis and chili sauces.

The Gainesville Chili cook-off is always a crowd pleaser with individuals competing for the best Chili in Gainesville as well as other activities such as a kids watermelon seed-spitting contest, and great live music.

Chili cook-off is July 27, 2013 from 8:30 am – 1:00 pm.  Admission and parking is FREE.
