Renter’s Insurance

You insure your car, your health, as a renter, what would you do if your possessions, furniture or clothing burned, were stolen or water damaged.  If you do not have the savings to replace damaged or destroyed possessions, you may be advised to check into renter’s insurance.  The landlord’s insurance only covers the the building, not your treasures.

Staying safe on campus

US News and World Report offers these suggestions for staying safe on campus.

  1. Know  your safety offerings. Check with your campus for security details.
  2. Provide details by staying alert.
  3. Stay connected with others.
  4. Avoid walking alone on campus.  Connect with other students.
  5. Stay safe off campus also by keeping your doors locked, staying in groups and not alone, and be alert of your surroundings.

Barnyard Buddies

City folks meet farm life where youngsters and adults meet, greet and learn about farm animals by helping with afternoon feedings at the Living History Farm at the Morningside Nature center.  The animals love treat donations of apples, carrots, squash, melons and sweet potatoes.  Give treat donations to a staff member and not directly to the animals.  With a variety of animals at the center, it is fun learning about different breeds.  The free program begins at 3:00 pm at the Living History Center.

Dates: Wednesday, August 28 and September 4.  Times: 3:00 pm each week.

Local Talent and Open Mic Night

Mr. October emcees this fun night supporting local musicians and bands on Wednesday Open Mic nights at the Gator Tales Sports Bar.  Friends say you are talented, that you should be in Nashville… now is the time to have audience feedback.  Gator Sports supplies mics, lighting and amps.  You show up and provide the talent.  What an opportunity to discover yoru musical “legs”.  Not eager to be on stage, every performer needs an audience; so go and enjoy the music, a good buger or wings, and a cold beer.

Gator – Fall Sports Fan Day

Gator sports fans are eager to get the season rolling and off to a great start.  Support the amazing UF student athletes as the football and volleyball teams come together for a great fan day experience at the O’Connell Center.  The Gators are chomping to begin the action with you cheering them on.  You will be able to get autographs from players, coaches, and cheerleaders.  The Volleyball team will also hold their annual Orange and Blue scrimmage at 3:30 p.m.  Gate 1 Concession will be open.

Show your Gator spirit: Saturday,  August 17, 2013, 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.   Doors open at 2:30 p.m.
